A New Journey in 2009

As we have been seeking God’s face, His will and direction for our family in 2009, He has placed a new vision in our hearts. God is calling our family into a new ministry! We are going to be sent out as missionaries from Crosspoint, to help pioneer a new ministry in Mississippi called Relevant Ministry. We will be working with pastors, leaders and staff of local churches and ministries who have been impacted by the effects of Hurricane Katrina and coordinating Interns with Ministries in need of spiritual rebuilding. We will also work closely with the interns to provide mentoring, training and opportunities to apply practical and relevant ministry in the local church and other ministries.

After Hurricane Katrina many people flooded in to work on the physical rebuilding of the Gulf Coast… but now there is a great need for a spiritual rebuilding in churches and ministries along the Gulf Coast. Many people have become tired and are praying that God would send workers with fresh hands and a fresh vision to come and minister along side of them to help build up the body of Christ. We are so excited to see all that God has in store for us as we step out in faith and follow His calling.

Why Are we sharing our hearts with you?
We want you to know what God is doing in our lives, because you are an important part of our lives. Here is the potential timeline for our transition. On January 5th, we shared with our church Leadership Team about Relevant Ministry and what God was laying on our heart. We had a great response of love and support. During the remaining part of January, we had the opportunity to share with our ministry leaders and then our church body… and now we are sharing with you. We will be putting our house on the market in February and are trusting God to sell it in these lean times. We are also in the process of selling Angie’s car and right now that is another big prayer need.

Jeff’s last Sunday as Lead Pastor will be March 1st. At that time, we will begin visiting area churches that responded with physical and financial support during Hurricane Katrina to share the vision of Relevant Ministry. We will also be seeking financial and prayer support as well as sharing the needs and the opportunities for those who may have an interest in becoming an intern, and promoting short-term missions experiences for churches and youth groups that want to come and serve God and experience hands-on ministry to others on the Gulf Coast in a fresh and relevant way.

Here is where we need your help.
We value you and your prayer support. This is a huge step of faith for our family as we will be leaving the security of our jobs and home, and moving to a new place and starting from the ground up as we help pioneer a new ministry. We need your prayer!

We also need financial support. We will be seeking financial support just as a missionary would. We are looking for people to come along side of us and say “YES… We will support you and this new vision for ministry on the Gulf Coast that God has given you. We are working for a ministry that is a non-profit, so that will mean any financial support, whether a one time gift or monthly support will be 100% tax deductible.

Will you prayerfully consider what your part could be in reaching a world in need of Jesus. After we have served on the Gulf Coast for five to six years, we are really sensing God’s call for us to use our resources and plant a church in the New Orleans area. This step of faith that we are taking is equal to one that would be taken to go to a foreign land. The need for Jesus is great and our call is strong that now is the time for us to go and follow God’s call.

Thank you for your friendship and for the important role you play in our lives. We will stay in touch with you as we are making this transition. If you want to get together and talk personally we would love that too. We pray God’s richest blessings on you in 2009!
With Love,
Jeff, Angie, Blake, Grant & Pete
